Summary

Chapters 41-48

Kate: November 28. Kate feels again that she is a bad mother because Amelia never told her, and therefore felt like she could not tell her, she was gay. Seth tells her, however, that maybe Amelia was waiting until she had accepted herself before telling her mother. Mr. Woodhouse calls Kate, but refuses to answer her questions in fear of losing his job. Kate becomes angry and hangs up on him. Then Jeremy calls, asking Kate to meet him later in the day.

Kate and Lew go to visit Dylan Crosby. Dylan acts oddly and her mother answers most of Lew and Kate’s questions. Finally Dylan’s mother tells them that Dylan has a social disorder that they have gone to great pains to hide, explaining not only her behavior at their meeting, but for the reader some of Dylan’s...
