Summary

In Chapter 34, Ike drops Tangerine off at Jazzy’s house to recover and hide from the Rare Breed. En route, they talk about Tangerine’s transgender sexuality, which leads Ike to say, “if all this has taught me one thing, it’s that ain’t about me and what I get. It’s about letting people be who they are” (241). Tangerine refuses to tell Ike who her boyfriend is, though, unable to believe he was involved with the murder. Ike learns that he is saved in her phone as “W.” Buddy Lee, Mya, and Arianna drive back to Ike’s home in Chapter 35; Mya gets a call from a neighbor telling her that her home is on fire.
