Summary

Brian’s father is in their house, eating food from the fridge. He jumps out of the window when their mother returns home. Brian refuses to believe that his mother is anything like what his father insists. He sees how hard she works and even if she is dating, he just wants her to be happy. He also wants her to show him how much she loves him and save some of the affection she may share with this new potential boyfriend.

Brian puts French fries into the oven while he watches TV with his sister. Suddenly, the smoke detector begins sounding and the kitchen catches fire. Brian erroneously throws water on the grease fire and the entire house goes up into flames in what feels like seconds. Brian’s sister pulls him away from the fire and they escape into the yard...
