Loyalty

A theme that is present in all the stories contained in Percy Jackson & the Olympians – The Demigod Files is loyalty. The protagonist, Percy Jackson, is a demigod who must balance the life of an ordinary teenage boy who lives and attends school in New York City with his other self – the self that possesses powers only the son of a god could have. While he enjoys his time with his friends and classmates, he is always “on call” for a mission from the gods. When Rachel, a girl he spent many summer hours with, invites him to her family’s vacation home, he is tempted by the offer but cannot accept it. His first loyalty is to the gods he serves.
