Porto Calvo

Porto Calvo is the nearest town to Entralgo’s plantation and Azevedo’s plantation. It is where Almeyda is sent to the help mulatta woman design costumes for the Indian festival. Palmares maintains a strong network of spies in the town. This is where Almeyda is sold to Sobrieski. Although it is never stated directly, it is likely in the Alagoas region of Brazil.

Palmares

Palmares is both a real and a mythical place. It is a quilombo, or a colony of escaped slaves, living in a self-governing polity.
