Letters

The letters represent raw emotion. Peter responds to the apology letter that Lara Jean wrote him in a way that he did not respond to her spoken apology because the letter was honest. Later, Lara Jean refuses to return the original letter that she sent to John because it is so full of longing. She is embarrassed that he read the words in which she poured out so much raw emotion.
