Merrin Grey

Merrin Grey is the main character of heroine of this novel. As a sophomore at Nelson High School, Merrin has never trusted anyone before she met Elias. She is a One, which she believes makes her a half-powered freak, neither Normal nor Super. She spends time practicing her one power, her ability to levitate, in the hopes that one day her second power will appear and she will be able to fly. As she meets and gets to know Elias, the two discover that by combining their powers, they can fly together. Merrin, who has always been stubbornly independent, still hopes to be able to develop her powers so that she can fly without the aid of Elias.
