Point of View

One Great Lie is told in the third-person point-of-view and closely follows Charlotte throughout her time just before her high school graduation, through the workshop in Italy, and in the aftermath of Luca’s assault. Despite this, the narration is not incredibly close to Charlotte. There are many times when the narrator hints to the reader that they are telling this story from the future or is aware of what is going to happen. Charlotte’s thoughts, fears, and opinions are all revealed throughout the story. This means that what the reader knows, with the exception of the narrator’s hints, comes directly from Charlotte’s knowledge of the world around her.
