Summary

Christopher came from New York with his wife, Ann, and children to visit Olive. The family was late because they had stopped for lunch, though Olive had made sandwiches for all of them. She reflected her last visit to their house in New York had gone so poorly that he had essentially asked her to leave. Since then, they had only seen each other at Henry’s, funeral. As she had remarked in previous chapters, Olive wondered why Ann had so many children, two from different men before Christopher, and two with Christopher. They had named the older of their two children together Henry, after Olive’s late husband.
