Summary

In “September 2017,” “Bilingual,” Olga got her brother “an invitation for Blumenthal party” (141). Before the event, Olga attended her brother’s fundraiser “to ensure that she and Dick would not enter the Blumenthal party together” (141). Since meeting Matteo, sleeping with Dick felt different. She realized that with Matteo, it was “pleasant . . . to fuck someone without the aura of mutual condescension surrounding the act” (143).

At Prieto’s event, she was surprised to see Reggie. Though their breakup had been amicable, Olga knew Reggie was too “focused on money” (146). She also disagreed with the messages in his music.
