Summary

In Chapter 14, Lucy tells Obie she was sorry to see his recent post about Grandma’s death. Obie is hurt she did not text when she saw the post. Lucy gets defensive. Obie confronts her for lying to him. After she said she was grounded, he saw a snapstory of her out with friends. Lucy tries explaining, saying she started hanging out with Jenn and Chelsea because she “was sick of being different and being made fun of” (125). She also does not think the girls or Clyde are that bad. Obie is offended and hurt.

Throughout the afternoon, Lucy texts Obie begging to talk. Obie is too upset to reply.

Obie finally texts Charlie. He wants to explain his reasons for taking so long to contact her, but simply mentions his fight with a friend. Texting Charlie makes Obie feel “warm and happy...
