In "Our Lives Are in Your Hands," on September 8, 2018, 16-year-old Greta Thunberg spoke at a climate march in Stockholm. She opened by saying, in 2017, scientists estimated that humans only had three years to begin reversing greenhouse-gas emissions in order to meet the Paris Agreement goals. In the year since the estimations, emissions had increased, and climatic conditions worsened. Thunberg argued that if people were aware of these facts, they would not be so curious about her interest in climate change. If people knew the true consequences of the planet warming above two degrees Celsius, they would not wonder why she had chosen to strike outside the Swedish parliament.
