Part 2, Chapters 12 - 16 Summary

In Chapter 12, Jessica remembers a scare when she was pregnant with Kira that had been the first time that she had felt the fear of losing someone that she cared about. Jessica is working on photo albums in the days after Peter's death. Kira bugs her to get up but Jessica explains she is still tired. She wants to be alone but as soon as David and Kira leave to go watch a movie, Jessica's tears come.

Chapter 13 tells a story of Mahmound and Dawit in the year of 1710. Mahmound has refused to marry the mother of his child but has instead taken the boy to be their servant. The two decide the boy is too much trouble after two years and leave him behind in their rented room in Barcelona.
