Summary

In Chapter Four, Dorothy went to have coffee with Estelle again. She really wanted to tell her about Larry, and Estelle suspected that she was having a secret affair, but Dorothy kept her secret. They talked about Estelle’s teenage children, who were behaving very poorly. Dorothy complained about Fred’s sister, who kept changing her mind about when she was coming. Dorothy told Estelle that she might want to start working again in a few months. Dorothy thought that, after Larry was gone, she would want to get out of the house and maybe try to start making some more friends. The two friends made plans to go to a fashion show recreating some of Marie Antoinette’s dresses together. When Estelle asked Dorothy to come with her to a party on Saturday, Dorothy still said she could not go.
