Summary

In "Other Women, Fly's Coming-of-Age Story," it was 2007 in Ellenwood, Georgia. As a teenager, Fly spent most of his time alone. His father's condition seemed to be worsening. His mom was often distracted. Fly was generally obedient and compliant, but recently he had been looking for ways to rebel. While his parents both had had some relationship with religion in the past, Fly was attached to Christianity. Trying to use Christianity as "a teenage rebellion," he soon discovered, "sort of sucked" (72).

Feeling lonely and confused, Fly started closing himself in his room. He would eat edibles and look at "porny mags" and "the Good Book all together" (73).
