Act 3 Summary

A weary Annie Sullivan continues spelling into Helen's hand. She remarks that a chick will eventually come out of its shell and Helen must too. While Annie spells to Helen, Viney freshens up a bedroom in the Keller house. Downstairs James is sharing with his father and stepmother how normal and enjoyable the house has been for the past two weeks. His father reprimands him for his lack of sensitivity in front of Kate. Keller tells James that the separation of child and mother is difficult, but so is disappointment in a child. James understands his father's meaning and apologizes to Kate who compassionately understands the truth in James's words. James then solicits Kate for her help in dealing with his father, and Kate informs James that it is up to James to confront and deal with his father. James then asks for...
