Chapters 42 through 48 Summary

In chapter forty-two, Taylor, Ostin, McKenna, and Ian begin arguing. When the argument becomes heated, the guards enter the cell. McKenna pulses a burst of light and they take down the guards who are momentarily blinded. They make it only a short distance before they're overwhelmed by the sheer number of guards and returned to their cells. Ian compliments Ostin, saying it's as near as anyone has ever gotten to escape. In chapter forty-two, Hatch reveals that he's planning to abandon the Pasadena facility, renovate the buildings, and lease the property.

In chapter forty-four, Michael agrees to remain with Hatch if he'll release the others. Hatch says Taylor knows too much but that he believes Michael can "bring her around." Hatch then orders Michael to show his loyalty by electrocuting Wade. Michael is told his mother will be tortured if he...
