Summary

Chapter 7 reverts to Ani's adult life. Ani considers what would happen if there was a shark attack when Luke was swimming in the ocean behind his parents house. She knew she would not be able to stand the smell of a body pulled apart, a smell she could still remember, and would not be able to save him if he was attacked. She thought it would be even worse if he were only injured in an attack. She believed she could not live with him if he was less than perfect and bore any reminder of the way that life could be destructive.
