Summary

Chapter 9 is titled “How a Boy Can Become a Grease Fire." Gregory Pitts has terrible body odor. His friends care about him and tell him the truth, that “he smelled dead. Like rotten” (157). His three close friends, Remar Vaughn (known as Remy), Joey Santiago, and Candace Greene plan to give him some help and advice right after school because Gregory is planning to talk to Sandra White who lives on Rogers Street. Joey asks Candace is she is alright, knowing that Bryson is her cousin and that he was “jumped” the previous day. Candace says she is going to check in on him as soon as they go with Gregory to Sandra's house.
