Summary

In Chapter 1, Jubilee opens the story, which begins on the afternoon of Christmas Eve, by telling her reader that she thought her name sounded like a stripper’s name. She explained she did not even really know what a jubilee was.

Jubilee was getting ready to go spend time with her boyfriend, Noah Price. He was so perfect that she was not sure why he even dated her. Her parents had gone to stand in line for one of the ten numbered Flobie Santa Village items sold each year. The family had a huge collection of those collectible village pieces. Jubilee had been named after Jubilee Hall. Jubilee’s parents had not returned by lunchtime, as they generally did, but she was not worried until she saw Sam, the lawyer who lived in the neighborhood, walking toward her house. Sam...
