Summary

When Mike was in third grade, his mother began working as a lunch lady. He always did his best to ignore her so he would not be embarrassed. His mother also began bringing them to church but Mike never believed the sermons.

Mike regrets blowing up at work and leaving the job. He heads to the library to pass the time until his brother finishes his work day. He looks for a book about a boy who does manual labor or addresses class struggles.

After leaving the library, Mike meets up with Nick. He reprimands him for his sexist attitudes. Nick brushes him off and Mike is surprised that Nick does not have interest in thinking about what their lives will be like in ten years. His patience runs out and he does not want to talk about how he quit his job...
