Summary

Chapter 25. Joan and Arthur return from Italy. Right away she continues her affair with the Royal Porcupine. Her editors have set up additional stops on her book tour and she spends some time traveling around marketing her books and the Royal Porcupine accompanies her. On one overnight trip, they meet a man named Fraser Buchanan. Both of them have a bad feeling about him, but nothing comes of it.

One night she returns to her apartment to a heated debate between Arthur and his colleagues about anti-government demonstrations. Joan learns that Arthur spit on a policeman, in a funk she absentmindedly derides the gesture and instead suggests that if they really want to make a statement then somebody should blow up the Peace Bridge. They think it is a great idea and a few days later, Marlene shows up to their apartment with a trunkful...
