The Green-Eyed Serpent

Within the scope of the novel, the green-eyed serpent is a symbol of demon magic and signifies the return of the Demon King that was wiped out 5,000 years prior. However, for Arrah, the serpent represents her other self once she learns that she is the reincarnation of the 14th orisha Dimma who fell in love with and essentially created the demon king. Serpents are related to her, while it is the green-eyes in particular that are a trait of demons.
