Summary

In Chapter 25, Emil senses everyone's unrest. He wishes he could protect his family from pain. Feeling powerless, he devotes himself to Ness. The two cultivate a friendship. Ness tells Emil about his complicated relationship with the Senator, about all the evil deeds Luna has made him commit. Emil tells him not to feel guilty, reminding him of his good heart. Ness encourages Emil too, while revealing the truth of Luna's plans to make herself immortal. She has been working on making an infinity potion from the blood of her parents' ghosts. They agree they can trust each other because they expect nothing from one another.
