Percy Academy

Percy Academy is the prep school where Miah and Ellie meet. Both new students, the two teenagers initially feel out of place at Percy. Ellie feels awkward and uncomfortable in her uniform, and keenly aware of her economic differences from her peers. Miah experiences similar feelings of discomfort during his first month at Percy, though his anxieties relate primarily to his race. At his old school, most of Miah's peers were black, but at Percy, the majority of the students are white, forcing Miah to be constantly aware of how different he is from the others. Though their peers constantly eye Ellie and Miah when they are together, Percy acts as a smaller community in which the teenagers can test their ability to transcend social expectations of love.
