Chapter 17, Chapter 18 Summary

Pitt awakens to the sound of Tidi's voice calling to others that Pitt is alive and awake. The first person he sees is Jerome Lillie, the NIA agent. Pitt is in considerable pain from his beating by Rondheim. As Pitt looks around he sees that he and the others are sitting in a ravine outside, and the remains of an airplane are all about them. Everyone is suffering from broken limbs, cuts, and contusions, made to look like they were in an airplane crash. However, he learns they were all placed there after being drugged and after their injuries were inflicted. The crash site was carefully selected so that a rescue plane would never find them.
