Summary

Rake said it was time he left on another run. He instructed Hank to keep Meg tied up and with him if he went out. After Rake had left with a valise full of pills, Hank lightly kissed Meg and asked to tie her hands so that MomMom would tell Rake he had done as he told. When they got to the woods, he untied her and told her that he was going to take her to a cold lake to unfold some of her memories. He walked her into the water and she dunked in. In the freezing water, Meg heard a male voice. The speaker began to bitterly ramble about his time in Vietnam, telling Meg about how no one who hadn’t lived through the war could truly know its horrors.
