Summary

Chapter 4 takes place five months later, in August of 2002. Belinda is at the airport in London, struggling to find Nana, when suddenly she sees Amma holding a sign with her name on it. The girls make their way outside and Amma hails a taxi. In the car ride, Amma doesn’t talk to Belinda, and Belinda takes in the city.

In Chapter 5, when they arrive at Amma’s house, Belinda notices that the place is much smaller than Aunty’s house where she is used to working.

For the first time, Belinda recalls details about her mother, and compares how calm she was then to how anxious Belinda is now.
