Summary

In Chapter 6, Afi goes to Evelyn’s apartment. She is surprised by how openly Evelyn talks about her life and sexuality. Afi is reserved, not trusting her. Evelyn asks how the situation is with Afi, Eli, and Muna, identifying the name of the Liberian woman. Evelyn says Muna was nice to her.

Evelyn tells Afi about how she made a career and life for herself in Accra, before she met Richard. Afi warms to Evelyn.

The next day, Eli surprises Afi at Sarah’s and takes her to lunch. He apologizes for how their marriage has been, noting that Ivy is sickly which makes it difficult for him to leave his home with her and the other woman. He tells Afi he will see her this weekend and they kiss for the first time.
