Summary

Here Come the Israelis! Jacob, Irv, and Max greet the talkative, outspoken Tamir and his athletic son Barak off their plane. They stop for something to eat before leaving the airport, Tamir continuously bragging about how successful he is and eventually getting into a political argument with Irv. Meanwhile, Jacob’s mind drifts to fantasies about Julia having sex with Mark, and about Mark becoming a step-father to Benjy. His reverie, and the argument about Iran, are interrupted by Max, telling his father to turn on the radio because something had happened in the Middle East. The chapter ends with the comment that “Other Life was happening even when no-one was present,” a comment that begins a brief reference to Julia attempting to reconcile with Sam even while he is making a speech at the model U.N...
