Structure

"Her” is separated into three main sections. Part One describes the close and unique relationship of author Christa Parravani and her identical twin sister, Cara. The section begins with Christa declaring that she used to be an identical twin. Cara died of a drug overdose when the twins were 28. The first part describes their somewhat difficult childhood. They had a father who didn’t want them and later a step-father who was harsh and distant. They were both happy when he left. Their mother was their beacon – she was always there for them and the three had a close and loving relationship. The first section covers their high school and college years and their marriages. It also delves into the drug addiction that eventually ended Cara’s life.
