Act 2, Scene 3 Summary

It is 1984, and Heidi is having lunch with her old friend, Susan. Heidi wants to have a sincere talk. Susan, however, is busy working the room the entire time. She is looking for famous people and trying to network. Susan seems to be speeding, in fact. She is talking fast, and her thoughts jump from one thing to the next, but there is no direct mention of her using drugs of any sort.

She may just be nervous, because she does not want Heidi to bring up anything painful. Heidi is still teaching at Columbia, writing a bit, and putting on art shows through Women's Art. She has no significant other, and seems to be lonely. It sounds like Susan may be dating a married man, but she will not discuss this. Heidi is surprised and disappointed to learn that Susan...
