Fantasy Becoming Reality

As the members of the Eagle-19 Heavy crew see the similarity between the MF Space Station and the one in a movie, they begin a discussion about objects first introduced as fantasy often becoming reality. For example, space stations and wristwatch phones were once seen only in television fantasy. Now, they are a reality. While Winston’s liquefying weapon seems to be total fantasy, the reader must wonder if someday it might become a reality.

When Winston threatens Gwendy with the liquefying weapon, Gwendy notes how her reality seems to have meshed with fantasy. Winston has a weapon he claims will kill her by melting her insides.
