Summary

Part 2 begins with the Cherokee syllabary, as Part 1 did. Part 2 is named “South – White.” The four Indians decide it is now Ishmael’s turn to tell the story. Like the other stories, there was just water in the beginning. This time, however, Changing Woman (not First Woman) leans over the edge of Sky World to look at her reflection in the water and falls into a canoe.

Meanwhile, Lionel picks up the four Indians up from the highway.

The narrator introduces us to Latisha, Lionel’s sister. As the owner of the Dead Dog Café, Latisha serves a group of American tourists one day. As the narrator describes, Latisha’s café grew popular with tourists after she started advertising the food as dog meat. The tourists enter the café and Latisha feels trouble is on the way.
