Part 2: Chapters 12-13 Summary

The Prisoner and the Warden. Olivia takes Alicia into the secluded north wing room when she returns late that night. The first thing Olivia does is cut Alicia's hair short so that Malcolm will not be attracted to her. When she is done, Olivia puts the cuttings in Malcolm's trophy room. Olivia is the only one who will have contact with Alicia during her confinement, cooking for her and providing her only source of companionship. At first, Alicia begs to see Christopher and complains about the situation. However, with time Alicia begins to live in a fantasy world where Olivia does not exist and Garland is still alive.
