This poem’s subtitle is “(Poison Ivy Leaves a Note for Batman in the Wake of Another Apocalypse Attempt)”. This suggests that Batman has foiled Poison Ivy’s latest scheme to destroy the carbon footprint of mankind, but has escaped his attempt to bring her to justice. Both characters have lost and gained something. Poison Ivy encourages Batman — and through him, the reader — to consider the damage that humanity is doing to the land. Although it’s implied that the “Attempt” was Poison Ivy’s doing, there are other possible interpretations that can be gleaned through the main character’s perspective. The poem questions who is the destroyer and who is the creator.
