Carol

Carol is the main character and first person narrator of "Creature." The summer Carol was 14, her mother moved them out of her father's house for the third time. Shortly thereafter, her mother told her that she had found her a job babysitting for one of her customers Mrs. Pike's grandchildren. When Carol remembers this summer, she cannot recall how she responded to her mother's proposition. She always fought with her mother, but does not know if she welcomed or resented the two weeks she was meant to leave home for the Pikes' mansion.
