Summary

Chapter 4 – After an early morning of contemplating her last year as a cheerleader, Hermione goes to breakfast, where Leo unhappily asks her why she did not tell him she was going to tell the story she did at the campfire. She explains her choices, referring to having talked about it with Polly and wanting to keep the word from getting to Coach Caledon. Meanwhile, she comments in narration that “Leo always wants to talk, it seems, but never about the things that would make it easier to be his girlfriend” (28). Outside after breakfast, Hermione warms up, making eye contact with a male student from another school and noting that Leo seems a bit jealous. She gathers her courage and confidence, determined that her last summer as cheerleader will be a good one.
