Prologue, Chapters 1 and 2 Summary

The story begins with a prologue. In this scene, Bianca Oliver is in an old church and flaming arrows are being hurled inside, setting the building on fire. Bianca knows the situation is occurring because of her. Bianca knows Lucas Ross will do everything he can to save her, and that if he dies it will be her fault. There are no options for escape and there are vampires waiting outside. The story then moves to chapter one which is set at an earlier date.

In chapter one, Bianca is preparing for her first day of school at Evernight Academy. Her parents are asleep and she knows they won't wake until their alarm goes off, which will give her two hours to get away. Bianca says she isn't really running away, but only plans to be gone for the...
