Part 1, Down Below: Chapters 1-6 Summary

Enclave is the first novel in the Razorland Series.

Chapter 1. Deuce. Deuce is a teen living in the College Enclave in tunnels below ground. There has been a devastating holocaust that has forced people to live underground. Here people rarely live beyond forty, with most dying much younger. For this reason, small children are not given names until they reach an age at which they can be of service to the enclave. Deuce has just reached that age and during her naming ceremony is marked a huntress and given the name Deuce based on a playing card she bled on during the ceremony. Afterward, Deuce goes to celebrate with her two childhood friends, Thimble, a builder, and Stone, a breeder.
