Summary

In Chapter 16, Ash assures Rowan that he, Lark, and Lachlan believe Rowan's memory of the forest, but others do not. Flint has gone to prove her memories are true. Rowan accuses Lark of sending Flint on the dangerous mission. The argument becomes heated. After Lark slaps Rowan and leaves the room, Ash says Lark really wanted all of them to go, but that Lachlan said it was too dangerous. He was protecting Lark. Ash is hurt to realize that Lark loves Rowan, because he has had a crush on her. He is angry, pointing out that she has both Lark and Lachlan in love with her. Rowan apologizes to Lark and discovers that Lark is preparing to follow Lachlan. Rowan insists she go along.
