Summary

In Chapter 14, Lenore got home with dirt on her hands from digging around on Trevor’s grave. Ellie worried about the unlikely event that Lenore would be able to wake Trevor’s ghost. Ellie reread Brett’s assignment and learned that Nathaniel Grace was a doctor who had started a hospital and founded Willowbee. Brett wrote that “He made friends with other Pilgrims by hurting the people who frightened them more than he did” (164). Ellie took this to mean that he had killed Natives to get blood money to start his hospital.
