Summary

In Chapter 11, “Number 24,” the narration reveals that despite the injury early in his career, Eddie has become a successful baseball player. He makes a lot of money and sometimes sends money to his parents. The narration also reveals that Marjorie suddenly departed from the town years ago, but no one knows where she went. Some of the local robots adopted Marjorie’s dog; taking care of the dog seemed to make the robots more human. Unfortunately, the dog eventually dies. Eddie had been on the disabled list for a fairly long period of time, but he eventually recovered and became a star player for the Rockets. His jersey number is 24.
