Chapter 7 Summary

Menolly wakes in the middle of the night in her new room in the hall. The fire lizards are upset about something. Menolly goes to the window, suspecting there might be an emergency somewhere, but sees that the guard dragon seems peaceful. However, the fire lizards are frightened and their fear is growing, causing Menolly a great deal of anxiety. Menolly has a mental picture of something grey and painful and hears someone scream to not be left alone. Menolly must have screamed aloud at this image because suddenly Silvina and the Masterharper are in her room. Menolly explains what she saw. The guard dragon has gone between now and Lord Holder Groghe has called for the Masterharper to explain his fire lizard's sudden agitation. Silvina calms Menolly down, giving her medication to help her sleep.
