Book 1, Chapter 4, My Brother Summary

Chapter 4 opens with the Perechon hurtling towards the center of the whirlpool in the middle of the maelstrom. Tanis has resigned to the fact that he will soon die. He feels numb, without any fear as he clings to the rail of the boat. He decides that death will be welcome when it comes. Berem seems to feel the same way. He stops trying to steer the ship and stands calmly.

Caramon shakes Tanis and reminds him that Raistlin may can change their fate with his magic. They find Raistlin in the captain's cabin already conjuring a spell.
