Dog Man

Dog Man is a character who was created when the head of a police dog was sewn onto the body of a police officer. The result is a crime fighter who is easily distracted and who has many of the mannerisms of a dog. For example, when Dog Man is on the trail of a villain, he often becomes distracted, usually by squirrels or dogs. The distraction is so complete that he usually allows the villain to escape and someone has to redirect his attention in order for him to capture the villains. In the first novel of this set, For Whom the Ball Rolls, Lil' Petey tries to train Dog Man to focus by giving him a bath each time Dog Man becomes distracted by a ball, which prompts Dog Man to become afraid of balls.
