Summary

Chapter 13

Bitty and Trinket attend Philip’s funeral. Afterward, Philip’s mother approaches Bitty, and they nearly come to blows; but, Trinket trips Philip’s mother before she can attack Bitty. The next day, Trinket’s parents return home. Bitty calls to tell Trinket that Sanders has been seen walking outside of town. For this reason, Bitty wants to go back out to The Cedars, and she talks Trinket into going with her. At The Cedars, Bitty and Trinket are standing outside when they hear a loud noise. Bitty insists on going into the house. Bitty goes to the back of the house to catch her friend’s dog, which she still has not returned. Trinket calls that she is coming to help when she is hit over the head.
