At the beginning of "The Adventure of a Photographer," Antonino Paraggi looks down on amateur photographers because he protests that posed photographs give a false impression of reality. He is annoyed because most of his friends have gotten married and have kids, and so they are always taking pictures of their kids, or wanting Antonino to take a group picture. Out of protest, Antonino ironically buys an old-fashioned, box-style camera, and his friend Bice comes over to pose for old-timey photos.
