Summary

In Chapter 15, Bass reports that in the fall of 1994, he felt things in his life were going too well to last. Not only were he and the Body Farm getting national attention, but he had also remarried. He and Ann had been friends with Annette Blackbourne, Bass’s secretary, and her husband, Joe, for years. Joe died of cancer about the same time Ann was diagnosed so Annette was able to understand what Bass was going through when Ann died. Their friendship eventually deepened into love.

While Bass’s personal life was going well, the trouble began with Tyler O’Brien’s adipocere study. Adipocere is a greasy substance that coats bodies pulled from the water.
