Chapters 5-8 Summary

In chapter 5, Tempe works on the report on the skeleton found in the house in St-Jovite. Ryan and his partner arrive, so Tempe discusses her findings with them. When they leave, Tempe finishes a few loose ends on other cases before taking a few minutes to examine Elisabeth Nicolet's skeleton. Tempe finds many of the things she had hoped to find, confirming in her mind that the body is that of Elisabeth Nicolet. However, Tempe also finds something surprising in Elisabeth's skull, leading her to call the convent and attempt to find out more about Elisabeth's paternity. Tempe learns that no birth certificate was ever located for Elisabeth. Later, Ryan calls to inform Tempe that the fire at the house in St-Jovite was set intentionally using gasoline and propane tanks.
